15th Sunday after Pentecost [Ordinary 23B] – Words for Worship (Year B)

Call to Worship (paraphrase of Psalm 125:1-2, 4)

Those who place their trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion;

they cannot be shaken, and they are established forever.

Just as the mountains surround and protect the Holy City, so God surrounds and protects the People of God.

O Lord, bless your good people, and do good to those whose hearts are worthy!

Prayer of Confession (inspired by James 2:1-17)

Merciful God, you call us to speak and act according to your mercy and grace.  Too often, we play favorites and make judgments – instead of being impartial with the gifts of love and forgiveness.  Redirect our actions, God, and help our faith come alive once more.
