18th Sunday after Pentecost [Ordinary 26B] – Words for Worship (Year B)

Call to Worship (inspired by Psalm 124)

The Lord is faithful, even in the toughest of times.

God walks with us, even in times of danger or strife.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth!

Blessed be the Holy One, who sets us free!  Together, let us worship God!

Litany of Confession (based on and inspired by James 5:13-20)

The Scriptures teach us that “anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven”.  Let us, therefore, confess our sis to one another, praying with and for one another, that we may be healed through the grace of Christ Jesus our Lord.

For the ways that we have caused others to suffer,

Lord, forgive us.

For the times when we have ignored the needs of the sick,

Lord, forgive us.

For our tendencies to complain instead of show gratitude,

Lord, forgive us.

For our actions inspired by self-righteousness and greed,

Lord, forgive us.

For our wandering hearts and faithless spirits,

Lord, forgive us.

[A Moment for Silent Prayer…]

Holy Lord, bring us back to you and set us on the right path again.  Forgive us, we pray.  Heal our relationship with you, and heal our relationships with others, that we may live to bring glory to your name.  Amen.
