I was challenged to write liturgy for the Passing of the Peace for use during Advent. So… I thought I would put something together. And, as a bonus, I’m offering alternative lyrics for the Doxology that can be used throughout the season. Enjoy!
Assurance of Pardon & The Peace (inspired by Malachi 3:1-4, Isaiah 9:6, and )
How can we stand in the presence of God, knowing that we are guilty of sin?
This is the Good News in Jesus Christ: God’s grace makes it possible for us to stand before the Lord – forgiven, free, and loved.
Let us rejoice, for the Prince of Peace comes to us!
The peace and unity we experience in Christ is a gift that is meant to be shared.
The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
Let us exchange signs of the peace of Christ with one another.
Doxology (sung to the tune VENI EMMANUEL)
All praise to God, the Holy One; Praise Christ, in whom God’s grace is fully known; Praise to the Spirit, evermore; Praise Holy Trinity, whom we adore! Rejoice! Rejoice! Praise God, the Lord above who sets us free through mercy and love!
